Here’s what you can do to help put Willamette STAGE Company on the map:
Rabbit Hole
Winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize
by David Lindsay-Abaire
EXTENDED RUN! Due to overwhelming demand, we are pleased to announce two additional performances of Rabbit Hole, on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17. Both performances will begin at 8:00pm.
This new play by the author of such highly regarded works as Fuddy Mears and Kimberly Akimbo took New York audiences and critics by storm. The New York Times said of Rabbit Hole, “it is blessed with Mr. Lindsay-Abaire’s customary grace and wit.”
Willamette STAGE Company’s cast includes STAGE Artistic Director Robert Hirsh as Howie; Kimberly Gifford, co-founder of Thriving Theatre, as Becca; local favorite actor-director Pat Kight as Nat; Billi Veber, Jessica in wSc’s recent Skyscraper, as Izzie; and Phil Allen as Jason. Click here for a photo of the cast in rehearsal.
Becca and Howie have everything they could want, until a life-shattering event turns their world upside down, and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. Becca must also cope with the distractions of her reckless sister Izzy, and their opinionated mother, Nat. She finds solace in an unlikely source, a teenager who provides a key that may lead her back from the darkest of places.
The Oregonian, citing Lindsay-Abaire’s “deft hand at dialogue and family dynamics,” continued: “There are laughs from the outset to the end…fitting and honestly earned, even as the psychological structures of guilt, blame and irretrievable loss [become] more elaborate…”
Note: This play contains mature themes and language; may not be appropriate for young children; parental discretion advised.
Rabbit Hole will be performed May 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8:00 pm and May 4 and 11 at 2:30 pm in the intimate Black Box theatre at Corvallis High School, 1400 NW Buchanan Avenue. Click here for a map. or click here for a photo.
